Bopath Ella, situated just off Ratnapura in Kuruwita, is a beautiful waterfall 30m (98ft) in height. The cascading fall, a popular tourist destination, gets its name from the shape to the Bo leaf (Sacred Fig leaf). Bopath Ella is rich in bio-diversity; surrounded by thick green jungle it is home to deer, wild boar and other reptiles. Sometimes described as the "Queen of the Wilderness" it has many traditional stories woven around it, some with a religious fervour. One such belief is that there lies a hidden treasure deep within the falls and a thousand human sacrifices are required to retrieve it.

This is a popular water fall among locals, situated at Mahawalawatta, a few kilometers away from the Ratnapura city center.
